In the Finder select the menu and then select . This will open the Connect to Server dialog box. In this dialog there is a Server Address entry field. Mac OSX uses Samba to connect Windows File Shares so you will need to enter a string in the form.
smb://myworkgroup;myusername@mynetbiosname/mysharename
The smb denotes we are using Samba to connect the share. next click the button at which point you will be prompted with an authentication Window in which you need to enter the correct password for myusername@mynetbiosname. Click OK here and the Share will show up in the top left panel of Finder along with your other removable media.
Hint. Click the [+] button beside server address to save your popular File shares for future use.
